Alison is going to Zambia
Hello, I’m Alison and I have recently joined Student Partnerships Worldwide as volunteer and I am seeking a placement in Zambia Africa to help as a peer educator to increase awareness of HIV/AIDS and promote better health through knowledge transfer and behavior change .
Student Partnerships Worldwide (S.P.W.) is a program set up for 18- 28 years olds looking for a challenge. S.P.W recruits in Europe, America, Australia and New Zealand. New Zealanders care about global poverty and believe New Zealand should do its share to help reduce poverty. Many developing countries cannot provide the services and infrastructure needed to ensure the social, physical, and economic wellbeing of their people. My Challenge is to raise the $11,500 donation to Student Partnerships Worldwide to enable them to keep running their programs and training Volunteers like myself. When I travel to Africa I will be put in placement with one other Zambian volunteer and live alongside the community. Some of these rural communities don’t have running water or electricity so I will have to learn to adapt to showering from a bucket of water that was collected from the local well. I will work in a government Basic or Secondary school working with the youth and community to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and related health issues.
